3. There's a widespread belief that football fans - primarily in Europe and South America - are the only ones who regularly cause trouble at or around sporting events. Surely fans of other sports are more well-behaved? Especially, say, ice hockey fans, in genteel and civilized places like, say, Canada?

Watch this video. Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmBWiyJAhsI And tell me when the last time fans of a football club managed to set fire to SIX police cars all in one go. But, of course, hooligans is purely a football problem, right?

2. I watched a bit of Nancy Dell'Olio talking to Piers Morgan the other night. What I don't get is this: she was born in New York, she lived there until she was four, she attended the American School in Rome, she returned to live in New York after university, she lived for another eight years in London... And still her English sounds like a parody. How is that possible?

1. Here's something I don't quite understand. People ranted and raved when Thaksin Shinawatra was allowed to buy a Premier League club. Fair enough. He was accused of corruption, tax evasion, muzzling the free press and allowing his police forces to commit human rights abuses in their war on drugs. (The military junta who unseated him actually cleared him of this last charge, but, hey, who's counting?)

But isn't it curious that nobody has a problem with Manchester City's owners? Let's see, it's a shell company fronting for a royal family who are absolute rulers of a country with no elections, and no free media. A country rife with the trafficking of children for the purposes of turning them into camel jockeys. A country which hasn't signed a whole raft of international treaties, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the Convention on Torture. A country which recognized the Taleban government in Afghanistan (one of only three to do so). Note that these people who know own Manchester City aren't just from this country with a dubious human rights record. They are the ABSOLUTE RULERS of this country, which means they make the laws and they can enforce them too. But, hey, I guess they're just more likeable than Thaksin...

PLAY MY GAME: You know the drill. It's Fulham's turn. Which of Fulham's non-English players would make it into an England World Cup squad of 23? To be honest, it's slim pickings...

Mark Schwarzer - I think he's on the slide, so he just misses the cut. But he's close.

Zoltan Gera - Technical player, but would he really add to an England squad?

Sorry, can't really think of any others... If I've missed someone out, please do let me know...
