Yes itapos;s that time again - election year. Yesterday Iwatched the Helen Clark vs John Key debate on television.I suppose it isthe New Zealand equivlant to the Obama/McCain debate in the U.S. Both of them are running for Prime Minister.
Unfortunately neither one of them made a favourable impression on me - not that it really matters since Iapos;m not old enough to vote anyway. It was like watching two children trying to talk over eachother - not a very pleasent viewing experience at all Iapos;m afraid. You really just want to say to them apos;Children, please one at a timeapos;
The speaches lacked substance. John Key went with his apos;trust me, Ihave experience in the business world.apos; speach. Helen Clark does not know how to shut her mouth either. But overrall, in my opinion, John Key was the clear winner. Maybe Iapos;m biased since Iapos;m a National supporter but hey who wants three more years of Helen Clark?
None of them compared with the brilliant speaches made be Obama and Palin etc. But I suppose being a good leader requires more than pretty speachs (look at Hitler and George Bush)Do they have what it takes to lead NEw Zealand to prosperity? Iapos;m notconvinced about Clark since NZ has been going backward under her government. But can we blindly trust Key? Iapos;m not quite sure.
